Coasts

Coastal landscapes are full of scenic variety with the added dimension of the power of waves and the influences of the tides. This means that your images of the coast show not only its scenery but also the nature of the coastal dynamics.

SCENIC BEAUTY

Image 14 shows how the receding tide has left behind the signs of wave action that has produced the ripples in the sand below the surface of the remaining water.

COASTAL DYNAMICS

The breaking waves of the Tasman Sea indicate the strength of the wind that drives them onshore. As they do so the cliffs in the distance are being eroded, and the sands of the beach are shifted.

LIGHT, WATER AND LAND

This combination of sea and land is beautiful at almost any time.

With the added dimension of the warm sunlight it becomes a scene worth photographing.

It also becomes a delight to see every day as it hangs on your wall.

SEA, SKY AND SUNLIGHT

Some sunsets have a photogenic quality, and this is one of them. That quality is enhanced by any reflections from the surface of the sea, those reflections being strongest where the sea is at its most calm.
