If the light is not "right" - don't bother.
The picture (left) uses light coming from behind the little girl in order to add brilliance to the overhead leaves - it was just "right" to be effective.

Why I take photographs
Every photograph has a story, and often, that story begins with "why." Explore the motivations behind my work, from the desire to preserve fleeting moments to celebrating the breathtaking beauty of our planet. Understand the passion that drives me to explore, observe, and create.
The geographer in me is always interested in photographing the dynamic elements in a landscape, such as the large gravel fan in the background (partly covered by vegetation where it is least active). The photographer in me could not resist the reflections in the calm lake surface, and the advantageous placing of the rocks near the bottom right-hand third of the composition.
