A glimpse through my lens
Explore a curated selection of photographs capturing dramatic geological formations, serene waters, and intricate details of the natural world.
From geography to stunning visuals
Using a camera to record the world as I saw it was an essential part of my life as a professional Geographer. As I started to specialise in landforms and their development, my photography followed the same route. As my experience in photography grew, I became more aware of the aesthetics and fine art qualities of the photograph. Now I am ready to share that through books and photographs.

Seeing the world in every detail
As a geographer, I learned to think at different scales, from whole landscapes to the details of river and coastal erosion, the transformation of deserts by wind (and water!), and this ability to transfer scale of observation was quickly absorbed in my approach to photography. At one end of the scale was the recording of expansive landscapes, at the other end it was the minor details of a waterfall, and before long it started to include attractive details wherever I could find it, such as in the petals and stamens of a flower.

My unique approach to teaching photography
As a full-time teacher, it was necessary to understand how best to bring students to enjoy and understand their subject. I have tried to bring that understanding into all of my books on photography, and to harmonize that with my enthusiasm for others to enjoy their photography.
If you love what you do, you can only get better by harmonising your technical skills with an appreciative eye of the world and the people around you.
"Master the skills, find your inspiration, and achieve higher things."
